What to do about gossip school bus drivers...

Occasionally, Google brings across some really weird stuff. Today, we found a post on a blog all about gossip in which a parent asks, what s/he should do about a school bus driver that gossips with other drivers and the kids every time s/he brings up a problem*

Do other drivers gossip about parents like this? What about each other? What's going on in your operation?

  1. I work in Phoenix, AZ and the driver's gossip so much I feel like I a working with elementary children. I have found that if they don't have alot of sit time it is less time for gossip. Even if it means cleaning the driver's lounge for the 5th time. Also I bring them in to my office and let them know it could result in suspension without pay or termination. It helps to bring the guilty party into the office face to face. That way it is taken care of behind a closed door instead of in the lounge with an audiance. I am interested in how other's deal with this as I am a new supervisor. Thanks,

  2. @SLT - Thanks for letting us know what's going on in your shop. To the rest, do you have to keep your drivers separated to keep them working? Do you have to have these same kind of talks?

We want this to be an open forum for the hundreds of thousands of people that help get students to school safely every day. We want to hear what you think, what's going on at your facility and what solutions you've found. But, please, keep it civil. Just like on the bus, we'll have no tolerance for attacks or anything defamatory. We won't write you up, but we'll delete the comments right away. So don't bother. But if you have something to share, this is your place.

Thanks,
